“You can crawl into your biome as a respite. The outside air is toxic, I don’t need to use a test strip.” We are obviously a part of the world. I used to debate whether we are a part of the world or just on top of it, but I’ve decided we’re a part of it since we’re a part of its ecology. The inside world, the biome, fleshy and eggy, is a topic to be explored in the future. The world itself is an embryo. Friends travel in and out like transmembrane proteins. We were born in the biome but we don’t need to die there. Preformation isn’t real, unless the surface pressure created by the needle piercing the chorion isn’t high enough (or low enough), and the chorion’s structure folds, leaking out the yolk and dooming the blastula. I actually wish the next phage gang album came out before Outside World, since traveling from inside the biome into the outside world seems more linear in a literary sense. Our eager urge to branch out socially, collaborate, and experiment with methods, rather than ruminating in our insular biome is a more accurate reflection of Phage Gang’s position though. It’s impossible to know our speed and location at the same time, like busy bees swarming. It’s impossible to keep your eye on one when they all blend together.
I can’t remember when exp first reached out to me. I guess it was the fall of 2023. This is a reminder that if even one person takes away something positive from the experience of listening to my music, reading my lyrics, looking at my visual art/watching my videos, it’s worth it to continue. Flash forward to November 9th, 2024: apollo, fern, cart, ohm and I would meet exp, jupps, notforever, wyatt, and jakob (our dear karonte hadn’t joined them in NYC yet). Lore: There was a slight mishap where Jakob’s art project was crudely misconstrued as something else under poor lighting. There was a big crossover of homies at that show, but we would click even harder in further links. The first time I really got to know the guys was the night we filmed the tadpoles video in february. I was with bonx, katebi, and apollo barhopping around bed stuy around 3am, when we finally pulled up to the B&U house. I think the next time almost all of pg saw the guys was when they drove up for the spring concierto show in april 2025. A great night, albeit Wyatt got bagged the night before and jupps broke his leg at the show. Memorable for sure. A bonding moment. We were up until like 8am waiting for exp and jupps to get back from the hospital. A few months later we pulled up to the legendary far rockaway B&U show, then played Casperr’s release show the next day. The following month was spent putting the finishing touches on Outside World. All this while we’ve chucked ideas and demos back and forth culminating in the crossing over from the biome into the outside world.
